ControlProŽ5

Question: What is the recommended strategy for a client to manage multiple CP5 systems from a central location?
Answer: By installing a REAC-MUL at the headquarters the client will be able to access up to 16 different CP5 systems. Each time the client logs on to the REAC-MUL it will prompt him to select which CP5 he wishes to connect to. This software module can be installed at any site that has a CP5 thus making every CP5 system available from every site in the organization.

Question: Is there a method by which "two man rule" can be implemented in ControlProŽ-5?
Answer: Yes. By using the Progline Software Option the system can be programmed to only allow access through a portal after a second valid card is presented within ten seconds of the first valid card presentation.
Question: If an employee is no longer working at the company, how do I deactivate their card?
Answer: From the main screen of ControlPro click on the Parameters icon, then click cards and lastly, click card. Choose wether you want to search by card number or name by clicking the appropriate column header. Then enter the name or number in the field above the list of cards and click the button with the double headed arrow to the right of the field where you entered the name.
Question: What is the correct way to ground the 20ma loop?
Answer: The loop can be grounded using either the center screw terminal in the connector for CON1 or the shield can be grounded to the ground bar in the CP2E grounding bar. Only the transmit side of the loop should be grounded on all controllers except the first one in the loop. There is not grounding on the I-Box so you need to ground the receive and transmit on the first controller ONLY.
Question: What do I do if I get a key not present error when I hook a printer up to the same port as the ControlProŽ software Key?
Answer: This problem can be solved in two different ways. The first way is to install a generic printer driver for the printer instead of the model specific printer driver. If this does not solve the problem you will have to install an expansion card with another parallel port for the printer.
Question: Can Hirsch Scrambler keypads be used in a ControlProŽ installation?
Answer: The Hirsch Scrambler keypads have a proprietary signal output and consequently do not work with the ControlProŽ controllers or any other controller other than Hirsch. However, ASI, as a Security Systems Integrator is also authorized to sell Hirsch Access Control Systems and if your requirements call for Hirsch we can accommodate them.
Question: Can you view a record if you do not have edit access (category)?
Answer: In ControlProŽ-5, in order for an operator to view a record he must have the Function Title (Full or Read access in the Function Titles) that grants access to that part of the database. Secondly, the operator will also need to have a Zone Title that grants the operator access to the zone in which this element (door, input, and output) is located. Unless both of these conditions are verified the record will not be displayed.
Question: 2. Is there a "BUFFER OVERFLOW" event?
Answer: This event is not available when the controllers are connected on a local loop since ControlProŽ-5 are "real-time" systems and consequently the buffer will not overflow. It is, however, available when the controllers are connected on a remote loop via an X-BOX. In this instance, a connection would be established with the ControlProŽ Server and the events would be downloaded.
